Amanda Nolen
Faculty Teaching and Learning Specialist

Amanda Nolen is a Senior Academic Professional and works with faculty teaching and learning initiatives for the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). She currently leads the Class of 1969 Teaching Fellows, the Hesburgh Award Teaching Fellows, and co-leads the Provost Teaching and Learning Fellows. Prior to joining CTL in 2022, Dr. Nolen was professor of education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she taught courses such as Educational Assessment, Learning Theories, Statistics for Practitioners, and Qualitative Research. She earned her Ph.D. in educational psychology from Baylor University. Her research focuses on the motivational consequences of academic feedback, factors that influence academic motivation among marginalized student populations, and developing methodological guidelines to research academic motivation and belonging in academic medicine, engineering education, and science education.  Her work has appeared in Educational Researcher, Routledge’s Theory into PracticeEducational Psychology ReviewAmerican Journal of Pharmaceutical Education, and The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America.
